Cromer Friday Market

More traders are needed at Cromer Friday Market.
The market is situated next to a brand new tourist information centre in the town and has suffered some disruption while works at the tourist centre were carried out. Things are back to normal now but more traders are needed to make the market attractive to visitors.

You will need to contact the Market Manager at North Norfolk District Council for further information re pitch rents and to give details of what you would like to sell there.

Check out the link below for further information

Enjoy trading on the beautiful North Norfolk Coast, Cromer is full of attractions, great shops, places to eat, amusements, visit the famous Cromer Pier for shows, a stroll and wonderful views of the beach.
Next Wednesday Cromer Carnival takes place with a flypast by the Red Arrows.
Cromer is not far from Sheringham, visit Sheringham market too!

News Reports Suggest...

Apparently sales of camper vans and caravans in the UK have gone up considerably this year, the credit crunch, increasing fuel prices hiking up all prices have led to more people deciding to explore their own country instead.

Well here is an invitation to explore Norfolk and particularly the North Norfolk coast. Fantastic coastline, gorgeous beaches, beautiful villages and towns with friendly local folk should be encouraging enough but add to that the wonderful weekly markets and you've found a holiday paradise!

If you are looking to find a cost effective holiday then what could be more sensible and fun than to buy your produce at local markets. Fresh fruit and veg abound on nearly every market you are likely to visit. You can pick up fresh meat and fish too. Scroll down this website to see our friendly Sheringham butcher and fishmonger for more information.

Markets aren't just about food of course and are well worth exploring to find a whole wealth of other goods too. You can find almost anything you need. Just look at this site to see what is on offer and this is just a sample.

North Norfolk has just been shown to harbour the most frugal folk of the UK. This is no great surprise to us. The customers us traders meet are always on the lookout for a bargain and on our markets they nearly always find one.

Norfolk holds the following markets on a weekly basis - try them and experience a real slice of Norfolk life and characters

Tuesday - King's Lynn, Stalham
Wednesday - Sheringham (April-October), Watton
Thursday - Fakenham, North Walsham
Friday - Cromer, Diss, Dereham,Wymondham
Saturday - Sheringham (Probably the best Saturday market there is - even if we are biased!)
and Swaffham

Add to this tons of history, museums, churches, cathedrals, castles, zoos, wildlife, seal trips and lots more and you have yourself the perfect holiday.

Include North Norfolk in your plans this summer - you won't be disappointed!

Check out the local markets and you'll be supporting the local economy and bringing independent business to the fore once more.

Thought for the day

It is time to stop being complacent and do as much as can be done to save an important part of our heritage and local independent businesses. Lots of people value our markets but we need to bring in the people who wouldn't normally consider shopping at a market.

Markets bring valuable tourism to our rural and coastal towns. Markets are an environmentally friendly way to shop. Markets create a lively social, community atmosphere which benefits young and old alike. Those who are unable to travel further afield to shop understand and value the benefits of shopping at their local markets.

Friendly and personal service every time.

Visit Sheringham Market, every Wednesday March-October, every Saturday throughout the year.

Contact North Norfolk District Council and tell them how much you value your local market.

Look out for the new Sheringham Market leaflets now being distributed, describing the goods sold at Sheringham Market, join the campaign to Shout about Sheringham Market!

Sheringham Stalls

Today I have begun to add pictures of stalls at Sheringham Market. It will take time to get them all on here but please bear with me!

Now you can see Clive's Picture Stall where you can buy an amazing assortment of pictures of everything from famous footballers, vehicles, flowers, scenery & much more. You can buy a frame or get your picture framed here, also you will find mirrors & a selection of handmade cards.

Norfolk Landscaping is owned by Ian, a chap with a very cheeky sense of humour! Visit his stall for fabulous plants and trees, it's awash with colour. Perfect for all garden sundries.

The Wickerware Stall offers all sorts of useful baskets & containers made from sturdy wicker. Log baskets, plant holders, shelves, shopping baskets you name it, you'll find it here. Once you've visited Norfolk Landscaping for your plants check out this stall for ceramic planters, they're very pretty! You will also find very attractive environmentally Jute Bags, useful & stylish.

All this shopping will no doubt leave you somewhat hungry and thirsty, the perfect place to stop for a cup of tea/coffee/hot chocolate and a freshly prepared snack is the Carousel Catering Wagon. With seats & tables positioned at the front of the wagon you can rest your weary shopping legs and relax amidst the friendly atmosphere of the market.

All of the above stalls visit Sheringham every Wednesday (March-October) and Saturdays throughout the year.

Welcome to the Sheringham Market Blog

This blog is to tell the world how great Sheringham Market is.
The market takes place every Saturday and Wednesday (March-October).
The Weds market starts the week before Easter and goes on until end Oct.
We want to encourage more people to come to Sheringham and enjoy shopping on our wonderful market.Sheringham is a coastal town in North Norfolk, a charming place to visit at any time of year.

Sheringham market supplies an enormous range of quality goods & produce at excellent prices. The traders are a friendly bunch, serious business people who provide an excellent personal service to all their customers. They all love a chat and a joke!

After many years of holding a market in Sheringham, us traders feel we really must shout about our market. The market is often ignored in local advertising and we want to change all that, so we are launching a campaign to tell visitors and locals why it's a good thing to support our British markets.

Why is it good to support your local market, or visit markets in Norfolk and elsewhere?

All traders are local business people from the Norfolk area supporting the local economy. We pay our rents to local councils and sometimes private market hosts. By visiting independent local traders customers are helping independent businesses survive which can only be a good thing in the face of globalisation.

Markets support the local community in more ways than one. It's not just about doing business, many elderly people depend on the weekly market for a bit of social interaction they wouldn't otherwise enjoy. Traders nearly always have time for a chat and often make good friends with local people.

When you support your local market you are believe it or not shopping in a much more environmentally friendly way. Traders rarely use electricity for lighting or heating both of which contribute to global warming. A majority of traders don't travel for more than an hour to get to market. All stalls are cleared away at the end of the day leaving the area just as it was.

You are also supporting a British tradition which goes back hundreds of years, markets are part of our heritage - use it or lose it!

Sheringham market is a good example of how markets bring tourism and visitors from other areas of Norfolk into the town. Many visitors are attracted by the market and this brings business to the local shops, pubs, hotels and attractions too.

Parking is relatively easy, the market is on a large car park which is a very short walk away from the town itself and many attractions.

Keep an eye on this site, soon we will be adding pictures of stalls and further information about what is sold. We will also add useful links and information so that you can find out about other markets in Norfolk.

We hope you enjoy reading about Sheringham market. Feel free to add your comments, we want to know what you think.
